Vegan Cooking Schools
( 2 Votes )

One can only truly enjoy the vegan offering if a certain level of knowledge and skill is acquired in cooking and preparing vegan foods.  This advantage will provide greater opportunities for variation and innovation so as to help keep vegans on track and avoid backsliding to previous eating practices.  Choosing the right vegan school can make the difference.

Most active vegan schools are typically vegetarian schools as well although there are schools that offer exclusive vegan training only.  Lessons can vary from single meal courses to serious vegan cooking training.  The chosen school should be able to provide the student precisely what is needed so as not to defeat the purpose of learning.  Students for their part should have a clear idea of what they want to achieve.  Some students will look for practical cooking lessons to serve their daily requirements while others may be looking into possible career or business opportunities.

Vegan cuisine is not yet carried by most restaurants thus a specific niche requirement can be filled by the right business-minded people.  There is no better person to run a vegan restaurant or food shop than someone who is a practicing vegan himself.  A school of choice should have updated equipments, suitable cooking facilities, and knowledgeable instructors, preferably with credentials.

From England, where veganism traces its roots, a vegetarian school named Cordon Vert Vegetarian Cookery School located at Cheshire, UK offers 1 to 2 days intensive workshops for experienced cooks seeking additional learning in vegan cuisine.  Qualified students can avail of offered financial aid for leisure and professional courses which cost approximately $ 170.00 and $ 1,035.00 respectively.   Another option is the Holistic Cooking School located at Totnes, England.

In the US, there are a number of options available such as the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Ft. Bragg, California; the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and Culinary Arts in New York City; The Vegan Culinary Academy in Angwin, California; the Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas, The School of Natural Cookery in Boulder, Colorado; the Matthew Kenney Academy at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; The Heaven on Earth Vegetarian Institute at Hamilton-Stoney Creek, Ontario; and The Natural Kitchen Cooking School at New Jersey and New York City.  The Olive Chef School in South Africa is also worth looking into by more adventurous students.

Individuals who are unable to attend actual classes can opt for the mail correspondence option of learning.  The Vegan Vegetarian Cooking School based in Elko, Canada delivers its materials and supplements for learning.  Students are expected to complete their monthly assignments and are expected to be able to master vegan cooking without the need for recipes.  The learning format provides for unlimited online access to the instructor for particularly difficult inquiries.  Courses offered include Menu Planning, Nutrition, Vegan Cuisine, and Vegetarian Cuisine.

The Vegan Culinary Academy offers online courses in addition to their regular classes.  Such options provide maximized opportunities for interested students.  It likewise offers an apprenticeship program for experienced chefs.
